Latest Updates from Our Project:

"Radium Girls" music video is out now!!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Jan 22, 2022 at 09:55:21 PM

BEHOLD, the incredible video that Omer Gal created for "Radium Girls." The video premiered yesterday on Glide Magazine's website (our publicist at work!), who said: "Haunting harmonies...with a distinctive style of gothic Americana that brings to mind The Handsome Family, Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris take us on a journey back in time to an eerie moment in history. There is a sweeping poignancy to the way they sing this lyrical tale, and the beautiful tragic tone of the song is brought to life by the delightfully frightening stop motion animation video." We are THRILLED to finally share this video with you.

Thank you for your support of this Kickstarter, without which we would never have made this video. Please feel free to share it far and wide. :)

Getting closer and closer
over 2 years ago – Fri, Dec 17, 2021 at 05:59:09 PM

Hello dear backers! We wanted to share a few updates as we've been a little quiet about the progress we're making on Our Lady of Radium here in our laboratory, although things have been humming along.

We are still on target to fulfill your rewards by February! This is what we anticipated when we launched the campaign, and that timing is still looking good. (The official album release date is planned for March 4, so you'll be getting your copy of Our Lady of Radium early.) Here's the status of the various Kickstarter campaign rewards we're making:

  •  Vinyl: Furnace Record Pressing sent us the test pressings and jacket proofs last month and we approved them! Our order is expected to be pressed and delivered to us in February, and as soon as we get it we'll ship out your records.
  •  CDs: These have arrived early at Charming Disaster HQ! It is VERY HARD to sit on them but we will be shipping these in February as well.
  •  Album Downloads: Download codes will go out when we ship the CDs and vinyl records!
  •  T-shirts: Our friend Crash has printed them and they look amazing! We expect to ship these out to you between January and February (depending on whether you're getting other physical rewards as well).
  •  Digital Singles: These will go out a little later than planned, but download codes will be sent to you sometime in January or February!
  •  Lyrics + Art Books: This is what we're focused on right now! We're still working on the layout and graphic design, but we have a printer lined up and the turnaround should be pretty quick once our design is final. Our plan is to ship these when we send out the CDs and vinyl.
  •  Other rewards: Test pressings will go out when the other records do! If you signed up for a personal video dedication, we'll be reaching out to you soon. (Or feel free to drop us a line if you have a special occasion coming up for which you'd like us to tailor your video).

In other news, the music video for "Radium Girls" is finished, and it is a breathtaking work of art that we cannot WAIT to share with you soon. We were able to commission artist Omer Gal to create the video thanks to this Kickstarter, and also thanks to this Kickstarter we were able to hire a publicist, who will use the video in his PR campaign to gain media attention for the album release. So your support is really going to make an impact on how well we can launch Our Lady of Radium into the world. We are truly grateful.

If you have other questions, let us know! Stay tuned for more updates soon.

"Radium Girls" music video: sneak preview behind the scenes!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 28, 2021 at 05:51:58 PM

Dear backers: if your pledge included any of our previous releases, keep an eye on your mailboxes, as we just shipped out dozens of packages with CDs and vinyl records inside! These should give you something to listen to while we await Our Lady of Radium. Meanwhile, we wanted to share with you some of the incredible behind-the-scenes images we've received from Omer Gal, whom we have commissioned (thanks to you) to create a stop-motion music video for "Radium Girls." Enjoy!

"Skeleton and head, that is a clay head that will be transformed into silicone...once the head is silicone it will look much different and more real grotesque like"
"This is process of creating her face after she is peeled from the newspaper print, still haven't done her actual clothes these are just temporarily on her till I get her hair and face in the right place"
"We went shopping for fabrics together for what she wants to wear the other day...she is very picky"
"Some more adjustments, socks shoes need color...she also has a coat for working"
"Quick camera test here..."
And ready to begin shooting!

We can't WAIT to see our Radium Girl come to life. Stay tuned!

Our Lady of Radium album production updates!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Oct 15, 2021 at 06:53:28 PM

Darling Disasters: It's been a minute since we updated you all here on the progress of Our Lady of Radium, but we've been working hard behind the scenes and things are moving along!

Jeff has just about finished the album package graphic design, though we're still putting the final touches on the vinyl album cover to make sure the glow in the dark ink will look the way we want it to. But the CDs are all done and about to go into production at Copycats Media. We expect to receive vinyl test pressings soon, then once we approve those, our 500-record order will be in the production queue at Furnace Record Pressing (it takes a while, but we still seem to still be on track for February for those, fingers crossed).

Here's what the record's center labels are going to look like:

Meanwhile, the vinyl reissues of our first two albums (Love, Crime & Other Trouble and Cautionary Tales) are finally done!! It's a big thrill to see them as giant 12-inch records. And that means we can start shipping out the back catalogue rewards: so all of you who ordered vinyl or CDs of any of our existing albums as Kickstarter add-ons should be receiving those in the next week or two. (If you didn't order vinyl but now you want to, it's not too late: you can still purchase them through the preorder store, and we'll make them available on Bandcamp soon too.)

More updates soon! This is a long process, but it's going to be worth it.

Love,

Ellia & Jeff
