We're radiating joy.
The Kickstarter campaign is over, and we're feeling a lot of gratitude right now. Your support means the world to us. In celebration, we wanted to share the glorious album cover image created by Susan Saas. BEHOLD!
We'll continue keeping you updated here about the progress of this project as it moves along. (We have already set in motion the arcane process by which this album will be pressed on vinyl.)
In the meantime, we have livestreams, live shows, and other exciting stuff happening! We invite you to follow us on all the things to stay in the loop:
We'll be reaching out soon with backer surveys to find out things like where to ship your rewards, what T-shirt size you wear, do you want to receive email updates from us, etc.

24 hours to go, and you just pushed us over the $20K line!!!
Holy mother of radioactivity, we just hit the stretch goal on this campaign. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
What does this mean? First of all, it means YOU ALL GET A BONUS TRACK. Yay bonus track! This song will be a single, released separately from (and significantly sooner than) the new album, so you'll get some instant-ish gratification. More details about that coming very soon!
What else? We're planning a big virtual show/hang just for backers where (if you wish) you can have your cameras on so we can see your faces, pets, and/or exciting hats, and we will take all the requests. We'll keep you posted about that too!
Most of all, this means we have the budget to make the record of our dreams. For instance, we can spring for the fancy clear colored vinyl that we've had our hearts set on (see a sample image from Furnace Record Pressing below). We can include glow-in-the-dark ink on the jacket (we promise it won't contain radium). We can also include all the content we'd like to put in the art & lyrics books (perhaps you'd like to know about the Marie Curie songs we didn't write? how about a recommended reading list? an explanation of radioactive decay chains? the sky's the limit).
None of this would be possible without you. Thank you so much for supporting Our Lady of Radium.

Introducing Our Lady of Radium's art & lyrics book

So far, we've talked about Our Lady of Radium mostly as a music project, so today we wanted tell you more about our plans for the art & lyrics book we're creating to accompany this album.
proof of concept, not final design
The book will be printed in full color and will measure 12" x 12"—the same dimensions as the vinyl record. This will allow room to include everything we want to share with you and to highlight the gorgeous original artwork created by illustrator Sue Saas, whose sketches, drawings, and paintings capture details from the songs and from our research notes about Curie's life and discoveries.

We will be including not only all of the song lyrics, but also a selection of our research notes. We did so much reading and research to create this project, and it was thrilling while writing the songs to find connections between historical details, scientific ideas, things people said, ancient myths, news items, and images. We wanted to share some of the historical context we accumulated, but even more so, we wanted to make it possible for you to share our sense of discovery. We'll also include a list of recommended reading for those who wish to take a deeper dive into the world of radium and Marie Curie.

We're just getting started on the book design process, but we have a lot of great material to work with, and we're excited about putting it together for you.
